When The Unexpected Shows Up
As I write this post, I am looking out my kitchen window, and there is snow on the trees, and on the ground. it is melting quickly, but just an hour ago there was at least an inch of the cold white stuff blanketing my yard. The odd thing about this is that I live in Las Vegas, in the desert. We don’t get snow here. It’s a rarity. But still, there it is.
It was…UNEXPECTED. Life can present us with unexpected circumstances from time to time, sometimes when we feel the least prepared for them. But maybe it is all in how we LOOK at things. What if we embrace the unexpected as a gift? Maybe this is something that will bring you UNEXPECTED joy? Maybe this is something that, as it unfolds, will turn out to be a wonderful experience, even if at the time, it feels bad, or it is difficult to get though. Remember, there is a larger picture that we can’t see, there is more to this than meets the eye. Have faith.
The UNEXPECTED might just be a miracle. It is not what happens to us, it is what we do with what happens to us.
Here’s to the unexpected!

I read your post and spent some time thinking about some of the “unexpected pleasures” that have happened to me in my lifetime. I began the new year of 2011 by checking off a “bucket list” item and going to see the King of the Blues, B.B. King, perform in Alexandria, VA. At the end of the show, as his “handlers” prepared him for an exit from the stage, he made eye contact with me. He bent down and touched my hand. Somehow I ended up with one of his guitar pics! Not only had I enjoyed a wonderful night of music and whimical tales, I touched the weathered hand of the man that had strummed Lucille for many, many decades… Needless to say, I floated home on a little cloud!

The snow was a bit UNEXPECTED. My future meteorologist daughter told me that it was going to snow. She was also hoping for a snow day!
What is really EXCITING is when ACTION is taken on an unexpected OPPORTUNITY.
Just the other day, I took a step out of my COMFORT ZONE and was able to connect with a pretty influential marketer. It was a great way to end 2010 and start 2011.
Once I get the video put together, I’ll have to share our experience with the year’s – and probably last – snow fall…
