What is a REAL decision?
The root of the word “decision” means to “cut off” from something. So, a real decision, then, means that you make the choice to do something and there is no other option. If that isn’t the case, then you have not made a real decision. So why is it so hard to follow through with our decisions sometimes? Let’s take a look.
Our patterns of behavior much of the time do not support the “decisions” we have made. We are trying to sit on a chair that only has 2 legs instead of four. We are doomed from the start.
A real decision, for example, to stop smoking, needs to be backed up with action that makes it clear that it is going to be far worse if you DON’T quit, than the pleasure you will receive right now from smoking. The same can be applied to any situation.
But if a REAL decision has been made, and there is no going back, then maybe the new action will be every time a craving comes up you will look at pictures of people’s lungs after years of smoking, or go visit the lung cancer ward at the hospital to see what will happen to you if you don’t quit.
If a REAL choice, a real decision has been made, then every day you will back up that decision with actions that support that decision. It’s not always easy, but with the right focus and determination, anything, yes, anything can be accomplished.
So flex your decision making muscles and decide!!!!!
Peace,
Jamie
